Final trip pictures

All right, the moment you've all been waiting for... the final post of Washington pictures. But I had to post so many, we just had so much fun!!!!

One of the Metro's long escalators that the girls so enjoyed. Bill is on the right. Caitlyn, Kelsey, and Keegan are right in front of me.

Riding on the DC Duck. It was a very HOT ride. Thankfully, this was the only day it was terribly hot. The view from the Duck on the Potomac

This is a really cool display in the Postal Museum. See? That's Caitlyn on the screen and standing there. It's about targeted mass marketing and starts out with a screenful of faces then narrows it down based on preferences until your picture is the only one left. Very neat.We really like the National Postal Museum. It's a small museum of the Smithsonian, although you never hear of it. After you participate in an interactive display using a credit-card-like card, you return the card into this machine. Kelsey is pointing to the man in the sunglasses. He talks to you about how the machine is working, then it prints out a personalized piece of mail for you. Very cool.
The ceiling in the National Archives, and a blurry Caitlyn looking at the Declaration of Independence.

OK, that's it. Really. I'm sure. OK, I do have lots more neat pictures from this trip. But this is all I'm posting. Really.

Ballet camp

Much to everyone's relief (I'm sure,) I am almost finished posting pictures from our Washington trip. Don't get too excited, still have more but am sticking in this one first.

Last week all three girls went to ballet camp. Our regular teacher brought in an excellent teacher from Houston to work with the girls for a week. He regularly helps prepare dancers for company auditions, so he knows his stuff! The girls worked hard all week. It paid off as Caitlyn got a double pirouette, which is a big accomplishment for her. She says the week was very hard, very fun, and she hopes Richard keeps coming back.

Keegan worked very hard learning the loooong combinations. She also started relying on her own memory for the steps instead of watching her friends - a major accomplishment for her :-)!

Kelsey was really too young for this class. We missed her class when we were in Washington. But she payed attention and kept up with a very advanced class Yay, Kelse!

We are very thankful to have such high quality instruction. Thanks Lori Ann and Richard!!!

Navy Memorial

The Navy Memorial was so pretty. It has water from all 4 oceans in it. Cool, right?

That's the National Archives Building in the background.

Family fun (and silliness)

Flopping fun :-)

This was perhaps Kelsey's very favorite thing on the entire trip. She had so much fun falling backwards on the bed. She did this every day we were there. In the final picture, you can see the top of Caitlyn's head, where she was sitting in her hidey-hole.
Ready...set....
go!

More Washington

This blog is driving me crazy, not uploading pictures. Therefore, I am posting this unfinished post, because I can't add the pictures I want. Grrrrrrr!

My little tirade aside, here are some more pictures from our wonderful trip. On this busy day, we hit the International Spy Museum (no pictures allowed), Madame Tussuad's, the National Building Museum, Ford's Theatre, and the house where Lincoln died. We also went to the Hard Rock Cafe, which they found too loud :-), so we had lunch at a really yummy little deli instead.

The girls really enjoyed Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum. Photo ops galore ;-). The funniest figure was a lady taking a picture of another figure. It took me a minute to realize it wasn't a real tourist!

Keegy as a hundred dollar bill

A bit of secretarial work at the Oval Office :)

Kelsey the golfer
She is at the Tiger Woods display Yea, she got it!

The girls across the street from Ford's Theatre, getting ready to go in the house where Lincoln died.
Because Lincoln was so tall, he had to lie diagonally on the bed. We thought that was very interesting :-).

The National Building Museum building was gorgeous!

Dollywood

Digressing from our Washington trip for a post :-)....
We spent a super day at Dollywood with friends.

Four beautiful girls, ready for a day of fun
Caitlyn, Kelsey, Victoria, and Keegan

Love Keegy's sweet face and pretty eyes.
Wheeeeeeeee!
Kelsey and I were watching this time, although we rode it later -Kelsey's first time.
Our friend Kristi is in back, then you see Caitlyn and Keegan, and Victoria is in front of Keegan, hidden by the man in the very front.

Keegan the Brave is on here :-)
She rode all the roller coasters.

Pretty girl.
Kratt Brothers Animal Show
I absolutely adored the baby zebra. It was soooooooo cute!!! I would have brought it home in a second. Not so much the Burmese python.
I love this picture. They are just so sweet!
In case anyone didn't know that I feel that way:-).

Thanks for a great day Kristi and Victoria!!!!!

Caitlyn quote

"Do you know what Jumpy's [cat] favorite song should be?

Day Tripper - because Daddy says he trips someone every day."

So true, so true :-)

Keegan Quote

A friend has a treadmill she isn't using and has very nicely loaned it to me. This has been a great source of entertainment for the girls, who love walking on it, too.

I was walking the other day when Keegan came up and said, "Mommy, will you try 5 [a fast speed]?"

Me, "Sure, in just a minute."

Keegan, all excited, "Caitlyn! Kelsey! Come here - Mommy's going to try 5. Let's watch! Maybe she'll fall!"

Another Mount Vernon

Kelsey was into these dress up clothes :-)!!!

Washington - Day 3

Mount Vernon -
We loved Mount Vernon. We had gone to Mount Vernon before, but couldn't spend as much time as we would have liked. This time we stayed an entire day. First let me say that I drove us there all by myself. Didn't even get lost once. Didn't even freak out in the interstate traffic. I am so proud. We had a great time. It was hot, but not too hot. We waited until 4:40 (they closed @ 5:00) to tour the house and got to walk straight in instead of standing in the loooong line that had been there earlier. The museum had a great kids area where we spent hours. But I am out of patience with the uploading for this post, so those pictures will have to wait.

We saw George Washington's false teeth. Not made of wood, but of of lead, human, and animal teeth - YUCK! - just in case you were wondering.

Here we are cruising on the Potomac.

And finally, bedtime - we took sleeping bags for the girls to use in the hotel room. This looks terribly uncomfortable, I know. But Caitlyn chose this tiny space between the bed and the wall and claimed it as her own. She didn't even want to come out to have a turn in the chair. Kelsey and Keegan alternated between the chair and the floor.

Hmm. Hope this post turns out more interesting than it looks to me at the moment.
